The Meandros Talks Fundraiser, took place on Sunday, October 20, 2019,
at the Palace Convention Centre, 1717 Blvd du Corbusier, Laval, QC H7S
2K7. Dr. Pedro Rosa-Neto, MD, PhD gave a lecture entitled “Targeting
Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.” Topics of lecture included: What
causes Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia? Are there any new therapeutic
strategies? Can the disease be prevented or detected earlier? What are the
recent research developments?

“Associazione Spignese di Montreal held their 2nd Annual Alzheimer’s Fundraiser on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at The Ritz Reception Hall, Montreal, donating all profits to the McGill University Research Centre for Studies in Aging. Over 230 guests attended the fundraiser. Dr. Pedro Rosa-Neto, MD, PhD, Director of MCSA and Dr. Paolo Vitali, MD, PhD, FRCPC were the guest speakers at the gala evening. On behalf of MCSA, we would like to thank the Committee Members and the President of the Association Spignese di Montreal for organizing this event. We are humbled by the generosity of the Association and we would like to extend our deepest gratitude.”

Adjunct Professor – McGill University Department of Psychiatry“Associazione Spignese di Montreal” held their 1st Annual Alzheimer Fundraiser on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Château Classique Reception Hall, Montreal, donating all profits benefiting the McGill University Research Centre for Studies in Aging. Over 150 guests attended the fundraiser and Dr. Paolo Vitali, MD, FRCPC, PhD, who is a certified neurologist and neuropsychologist, was the guest speaker at the gala evening and gave a lecture on “Alzheimer’s Disease, Ongoing Research and Clinical Activities at MCSA”. MCSA would like to thank the Committee Members and the president of the Association Spignese di Montreal for organizing this fantastic event!

In honour of this occasion, a tree (Lilas Japonais/Syringa reticulata Ivory Silk) was planted by Dr. Jens Pruessner, Dr. Serge Gauthier and Dr. Judes Poirier. A commemorative plaque was placed with the inscription “Recherche/Research – 25 ans – 25 years”.

The Centre’s scientists, Dr. Jens Pruessner, Dr. Serge Gauthier, and Dr. Judes Poirier, reviewed past accomplishments in research findings and discoveries and explained new clinical trials and their therapeutic promises. The Centre’s new focus on prevention activities with a dedicated research program was announced and explained to the attending donors and members.
